Values
The values associated with traditional religions are based upon superstitious beliefs and stuck in the dark ages. Now, in the 21st century we can do much better and define inclusive values that can evolve as society does.
The values described here are not orders or commandments, but suggestions on how we can improve, for the good of all, our lives on this Earth.
Values represent the attitudes that we have, and here are separated into attitudes to ourselves, other people, society in general, the whole of humanity, the physical world and the Universe

Self |
You only have one life and owe it to yourself to make the most out of
it you can. No-one else is going to do it for you. Your happiness is your responsibility and within your own control.
- Understand how your mind works and interacts with the world and
others.
- Understand your body and the effects of what you do to it, and what
you put in it.
- Maximise the opportunities available to you by educating yourself
and increasing your awareness and understanding of the world.
- Take charge of your mind and achieve peace of mind and happiness.
- Explore your sexuality.
- Exercise.
- Find your own purpose and meaning in life.
- Live a healthy life.
- Be honest.
- Use your free will and choose for yourself how to live and what to think.

Others |
We are not alone in this world and our interaction with other people can
have a profound and beneficial effect on the quality of our lives, depending
upon how we perceive and treat them. Some thoughts on how such mutual
benefits can be achieved:
- Cultivate a positive mental attitude of respect for the other human
beings you come across.
- Assume the best of others; and they will live up to your
expectations.
- Help those less fortunate than yourself.
- Treat others in a way you would like to be treated yourself.
- Remember that everyone has their own unique perspective, which, although
may be different from yours, is equally valid.
- Practice safe sex.
- Be nice! It is amazing the difference it makes.
- Be tolerant.
- Smile!

Society |
Working together we can achieve more than merely individual achievements.
Whether this happens depends upon our attitude towards society, and as
individuals we can all do our bit to help.
- Strive for a fairer and more equal society.
- Support justice and democracy.
- Support a penal system that concentrates on rehabilitation not revenge.
- Teach children how to think for themselves.
- Support an inclusive education system that allows equal access irrespective of religion, beliefs, race or sexuality.
- Allow people to die with dignity.
- Support equal opportunities within employment laws.
- Reject all forms of corruption.

Humanity |
The human race may not survive unless we have common goals to ensure that
the danger is reduced or removed.
- Manage the population explosion.
- Share the world's natural resources equally.
- Find alternatives to limited resources.
- Reduce the presence of nuclear arsenals.
- Combat dictators and totalitarian regimes.
- Prevent genocide.
- Support a strong and effective United Nations.
- Support equal human rights for all (as described in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights).
- Watch out for asteroids.

The world |
Each of us is here on this planet for a very limited time. How we treat the
world reflects on ourselves and had profound implications for future
generations.
- Leave the planet as you found it (or better).
- Think of ourselves more as custodians of the planet rather than users
(and abusers).
- Stop global warming.
- Conserve water.
- Keep the land, seas and rivers free of pollution.
- Recycle.

The universe |
We are but a minute fleck of dust in a vast ocean of space. It seems a
monumental waste to limit ourselves to a single planet. The adventure
awaits!
- Unite for the common purpose of going in to space.
- Explore the universe!
