  1. How do I use MobileTravelogue.com?

In just a few simple steps,

    1. Register a few details with us - You will be given a web address of your member's page and an email address.
    2. Create a gallery - You can do this from your member's page.
    3. Post a message - Store the email address you were given, in the registration process, into your phone address book. On your cameraphone create a picture message and send it to the email address. It is not necessary to set up any email functionality on your phone, this is a standard service included with MMS.
    4. View gallery - The message you sent should appear on your gallery within a few seconds.
  2. What is a gallery?

A gallery is an area in your MobileTravelogue webspace where the picture messages for a particular travelogue are held. A gallery doesn't have to be a travelogue, it can be of any category you like, such as, an online diary, a stag night or a school trip. You will see the picture messages displayed in a list within your gallery.

  3. How do I add a gallery to my account?

Simply log in to your account and you will see an Add Gallery form. Fill this in, click the Add Gallery button and the gallery will appear.

  4. What is a picture message?

A picture message is a message sent from a mobile phone, containing multimedia parts such as text, images, video and sound. It also may be known as a MMS and is different from the standard text messaging (SMS). An equivalent picture message can also be created and sent from a standard computer.

  5. How do I create and send a picture message?

The way to do this will vary slightly between different phone models, but will be something like this,
    1. From the main menu select messages.
    2. Select create new MMS.
    3. Write the text of the message.
    4. Add a picture or video clip.
    5. Depending on the model you may have the option add a new page (also called slide) and repeat steps 3 and 4.
    6. Select Continue and add the recipient from the address book, selecting the email address supplied by us.
    7. Select Edit Subject and input the title of your message.
    8. Select Send.

  6. What is MMS?

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) is the method used on mobile phones for sending messages containing text, images, sound and video.

  7. Why is my picture message not appearing in my gallery?

There could be a number of reasons.

First ensure that the message has been sent from your phone. If it has then have a look to see if it has appeared in one of your other galleries and that the email you sent it to was valid for that gallery. You should receive an acknowledgement from us if we have received the message.

In rare cases it can sometimes take hours, or days, for the network provider to deliver the message. You may need to check with them that delivery has succeeded.

  8. Why is my picture message not being sent from my phone?

If you have a sending failure you may not have MMS set up on your phone. Contact your network provider and request that MMS is enabled on your phone.

If your provider is not able to do it automatically they should be able to give you manual settings. For your convenience we have provided some here, valid at time of writing. Where the settings should be entered will vary between networks, but look for menu items like MMS settings and also Network settings. Changing phone settings is done at the owners risk and MobileTravelogue.com does not bear any responsibility for subsequent effects.

  9. How do I delete or modify a gallery?

Login and you will see a list of your galleries. Beside each will be a Delete button and a Modify button. Clicking on these will allow you to carry out the necessary actions.

  10. What email address should I send my picture messages to?

The email address for your latest gallery is your username with the domain name mtmsg.com. So, if your username is george the email address is,

    george

To send to previously created galleries you just need to add the codeword you used when you created the gallery. So, if the codeword is dubya then the email address is,

    sample address

If you have forgotten the codewords you used simply log in to your user page and you will see the email addresses displayed.

  11. How do I use MobileTravelogue.com if I don't have a cameraphone?

Very easily, a cameraphone is not essential to the posting process. Instead of using a phone to send a message you can use email from a computer.

Simply create a new email as normal, including,

    • add one or more pictures as attachments,
    • add a subject, this will appear as the subject of your post,
    • add some text in the body of the email, this will appear as the text of the first attachment,
    • send to the email address assigned to you, and the message should appear within a few minutes.

You do, of course, need to ensure that you have previously created a gallery.

  12. How do I integrate MySpace.com and MobileTravelogue.com?

Very easily, just follow these steps, and you will see your latest pictures appear on your MySpace page (or any other website) just like magic!

    1. Register as a MobileTravelogue member.

    2. Create a gallery.

    3. On the gallery page click on the feed button,

    RSS Feed

and select and copy the HTML code, in the lower box. Add the code to your MySpace page, in, for example, the "About Me" or "General section",

Here's an example of it in action on MySpace.

    4. Start posting images to the email address provided by MobileTravelogue.com.

    5. View the images on your MySpace page.

    6. If you want to change how your MobileTravelogue images will appear in your MySpace display do the following (you need only do this once). In a web browser type,

where [username] is your username, [gallery] is the name of your gallery and [codeword] is the codeword you chose to secure the gallery.

  13. How do I set up a business web site?

It is very easy to set up and customise a professional web site with MobileTravelogue, without needing in-depth knowledge of web design or HTML. For an example of what it can look like have a look at this example.

Menu items are created by adding a gallery and the contents of each menu are created by posting an email to the gallery. All the styling and formatting is taken care of automatically.

To create your own website with your own domain follow these simple steps:

    1. Register a Gold account with MobileTravelogue.com.

    2. Login to your account and go to "Account Settings".

    3. Change the "Account Style" to "Professional", and click modify. Now have a look at your user page and you will see a new style has appeared. The following points explain how to customise various aspects of the page, by changing settings in "Account Settings".

    4. "Account Logo" allows you to change the logo at the top of the page. Click "Browse" to upload your own logo image.

    5. "Account Title" defines the text to the right of the logo.

    6. "Account Description" defines the body of the user page. Modify the HTML provided or change it completely.

    7. "Account Picture" defines the header image. Click "Browse" to upload your own image.

    8. For each menu item (e.g. About Us, Services, Products) add a gallery with the category "Professional". This will create a new page for each item.

    9. To populate each of your menu pages simply send one, or more, emails to the email address defined by the gallery. The email must contain the text you want to appear and an image.

    10. Finally, to point your domain name to your account login to your registrar and change the DNS settings for the domain to ns45.1and1.co.uk and ns46.1and1.co.uk. When you have done this tell us what your domain name is and it should be ready in a few hours.
