| Loads of fish! | |  | I decide to immerse myself in the gruelling Advanced Open Water Divers certification. After my misunderstanding of the Naturalist dive they insist I don a wetsuit. Anyhow I reckon it should be just the ticket for that afternoon's Fetish dive! |

| It's all over! | |  | Well, I seem to have chosen one of the few places with a mobile network that doesn't support picture messaging, hence, the lack of real-time updates. However, I have updated the travelogue retrospectively so have a look, starting at the bottom of this page, and pretend it takes you three weeks to read it. Despite the dysentery and being robbed I had a very interesting, and enjoyable time. I would certainly recommend a visit, especially to the volcano, if that's your sort of thing. I took lots of pics, which you can see at,

| Robbery! | |  | I walk along the black sand beach at Sao Filipe. As it is deserted and on
one side are steep cliffs and the other the Atlantic breakers I decide take
a dip in the surf. I didn't count on, however, the Goat Man of Fogo who I
see sprinting up the cliff as I come out of the sea. He kindly relieved me
of all my cash and travellers cheques. Luckily, though he left my passport,
camera and Pocket PC. It could've been worse! |

| Fire! | |  | As the great iron bird descends from the sky, down to the plains at the base of the actice volcano on the island of Fogo, I contemplate my ascent to the crater 6,000 ft above sea-level. Quietly and calmly I start my mental preparation and wonder how long it will be before I find myself amongst the sulphurous pits and molten lava.... Luckily it only took an hour and a half as there was a road all the way, and I took a taxi! |

Thus feasting on mango juice and a packet of coconut macaroons, astride my donkey I follow, follow the volcanic brick road and head off to conquer the hinterland ... |
