Having spent five years there previously, getting back to Thailand after 15 years was like coming home! The visit was made even more poignant as I was there at the time of the Tsunami; I had spent a year and a half in Phuket!
Some colourful boats on the way off the island and back to reality.

Surreal
Over the next few days the reports grew worse and worse. The numbers just
kept increasing to perverse proportions. Being in a glorious, untouched
location on the other side of the country felt very surreal!

Ko Samet
I reach the beautiful island Ko Samet.
While laying on the beach on the first day I get a strange txt message
asking if I was ok and if I had been affected by the earthquake? The date
was Boxing Day 2004.

The Skytrain
It is great to be back in Krungthep (Bangkok) after after 15 years, and even
greater to see that getting around is so much easier than before thanks to
the fabulous Skytrain; clean, fast and easy to use!
