corner Mayor Boris corner
Mayor BorisWhat a sad day for London, the greatest city in the world, that such a buffoon and political opportunist has been elected Mayor of London. Surely those that voted for him only did it as a joke; well they'll be crying into their beer tonight! And I bet David Cameron will be forcing a false smile onto his face now that the court jester is the most powerful Tory in Great Britain!

corner Goodbye George! corner
Goodbye George!Well, he won't actually be leaving quite yet, but hopefully his power will be diminished by the end of today's mid-term elections. Let's hope those who previously voted for George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and all the other scary cronies will now have realised how dangerous they all are.

The recent revelations of the sexual shenanigans of members of the Republican party show how they are just like the rest of us, and how hypocritical it becomes when people try to preach a fixed set of moral rules in order to control what is the normal behaviour of human beings.

With respect to one of the transgressors, the Reverend Ted Haggard, who subsequently resigned as president of the influential National Association of Evangelicals, it has come to light that he has been thrown out as leader of the New Life Church, which he founded. Are the board not displaying further hypocrisy by forgetting basic tenets of Christian philosophy, that of repentance and forgiveness? Is that what Jesus would have done!

corner Brown is the new Blair corner
Brown is the new BlairWell, it looks like in the next political season Brown will be the new Blair. I find it odd that there is this tacit assumption that Brown is virtually guaranteed to be the next leader and, hence, Prime Minister; as if it is something that is his by right. If nothing goes wrong and he is the chosen one I suggest the first thing he should do is call a general election so that the country can decide who is to be the Prime Minister.

But anyway, what are we actually getting in Brown? Is he not just another incarnation of the Blair entity? A mere politician turned warmonger who has let an inflated perception of his own self-importance warp his view of his position and standing in the world by aligning the country with an immoral simpleton driven by religious and narrow-minded self-interest. Where were Brown's objections to the ill-advised, if not illegal, Iraq war; a war that has brought shame upon the British government and the British people? Is he not just going to prolong that shame by association? And what about the party members themselves? Where were the protests against the leadership at last week's conference? Perhaps, they have sold their souls to the allure of staying in power and have forgotten why they are there!

corner Should he go? corner
Should he go?Well, having sided with the Bush behemoth and taken this country into a war for dishonest reasons Tony Blair should have gone long ago. If you attack a country without sound justification based only upon some vaguely perceived threat then you are the aggressor; the warmonger. How will we know that can trust leaders in the future when a very real threat arises?

corner The Crocodile Hunter corner
The Crocodile HunterI was never a fan, but it is sad to see anyone die young, and it seems especially shocking when it is someone from the, seemingly indestructible, celebrity world. However, Steve Irwin's approach to the Animal Kingdom could hardly be described as that of a respectful observer. When interacting so closely, often in an aggravating manner, with wild animals it is perhaps not so surprising that you find out just how dangerously protective some creatures can be!
